Photo Friday: Become Patient

"Have patience. All things are difficult before they become easy." - Saadi. Jabin, age 2.5, after climbing the hoodoos at Writing-On-Stone National Park, just like his big brothers. (Circa 2008.)

Have you ever made the mistake of praying for patience?

I have.

Why is it a mistake?

I'll let Al Mighty explain it to you:

Patience is what happens as we persevere in doing something difficult. And as we persevere, we discover it is no longer quite as difficult as we believed at first.

Patience is what happens when we are presented with opportunity. Because no opportunity worth having ever comes easily.

Patience. You don't need to pray for it. Because one day, on your road to becoming a better person, you are going to wake up and realize you suddenly have a lot more of it than you used to.

That is how the beautiful symbiotic relationship between opportunity, difficulty, and patience works.

Happy Friday, friends. May your opportunities grow you this weekend.

Have patience. All things are difficult before they become easy.
