Introducing the "Just Plain Mittens" Pattern!
Hi, knitting friends! I have a (somewhat belated) announcement to make--belated because I launched this pattern the day I left for a trip to the other side of the globe--and forgot to finish this post while I travelled. But it's not too late! We have plenty of winter left, and plenty of time before holiday giving!
This is for all you knitters out there--the ones compiling lists of friends and family to knit for before the holidays, or simply looking for a good all-around mitten pattern to make for your wee one's hands now that chillier weather has set in. This is for all of you knitters who love patterns that let you knit for the whole family and choose your favourite yarn.
Love fast projects? Love super-fast projects? Love patterns that tell you how to alter for fit?
This is for you.
With four kids and a six-month winter season, I get to knit a LOT of mittens. Sometimes I have a lot of time. Sometimes not so much. And with how cold our weather is, I always want to line them.
I figured I'm not the only one. So I created the Just Plain Mittens pattern.
This pattern is drafted in five sizes, from Toddler up to Men's Ginormous (hee hee! 10.5" hand circumference is a big hand!), and you can make it in three yarn weights--bulky, aran/heavy worsted, or fingering. You could also make the fingering weight liner or sew a fleece liner using the included patterns for extra warmth.
This pattern would be a perfect base for your favourite colourwork charts, too.
Have fun! Go wild! See how un-plain the Just Plain Mittens can be!
