This Week in BATL: New chapters, new Story Bite, and Upcoming Changes

Preview

There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes around here.

First, you may have noticed some aesthetic changes on my website. I upgraded my Squarespace platform last week, and I’m still tinkering with what it’s capable of now and how I want things to look. However, as far as where to find stuff, everything’s still in the same place.

I did update the Commons page, hopefully making navigation easier all around. I’m also working on reconfiguring the rest of this membership’s hosting, as I need to change to a more affordable solution than gating content with MemberSpace. At the moment, I’m trying to work out how to use Squarespace Member Areas to host the BATL, which would be the least painful move—it would mean simply allowing my current platform to also provide the page gating of content. I’m still working out the logistics of some of the moving pieces because of Squarespace’s limitations, but this seems to be the most likely outcome right now.

On your end, the move should be pretty painless, and I’m hoping it will actually improve your experience. Watch for updates about how this will affect you.

Okay, on to what’s new in the League:

Work in Progress

Chapters 11 & 12 for Every Bell that Rings are now live. You’ll have to read them to see what’s new!

WIP chapters are available to everyone from Chapters 1 to 3, and Loyalists and above past that.

Story Bite: Delphine’s Decision

When I was writing The Sphinx’s Heart, I wrote a scene I originally thought might be the prologue, showing when Calandra’s mother, Delphine, gave Calandra up as a baby to save both her husband and Zale. I thought you might enjoy reading it.

Available to all paid tiers.

You’re Invited to an All-Tiers Holiday Tea Party!

This month, instead of only having a tea party for Luminaries and up, I’d love for everyone in the League to be there. The date will be:

Thursday, December 27, 2023 @ 7 p.m. MT

I still have to set up the Eventbrite event, but I’ll send you an email when the party is set up and you can register for it. (Don’t worry, registration won’t cost anything—I just use Eventbrite to simplify admin on my end.)

Hope to see you there!

I hope you’re finding some time for rest and rejuvenation during the busy holiday season. May your days be merry and bright, my friend.

I’ll be in touch soon with information about the Tea Party. Happy Holidays!

Talena Winters

I make magic with words. And I drink tea. A lot of tea.
